This fun vest is created using nylon screen from a home improvement store. This soft, fun "fabric" offers many creative possibilities. Students will paint a white sheer to create a backdrop; working with novelty prints, they will simulate a garden beyond the screen door. Binding seams and edges with sheer fabric will be covered... Fun, easy and definitely "one of a kind."

 Bobbin Magic Vest
Students will create a beautiful vest using a variety of heavy threads and bobbin techniques. Bobbin stumpwork, bobbin stippling and bobbin curls are among the techniques covered. Elegant bobbin beading and free motion sewing helps to create this interesting and beautiful look. Students will leave with a vest partially done and a good working knowledge of bobbin work. Students will learn the fascinating technique of fabric weaving to create interesting fabric for a vest. Using 2-4 fabrics, decorative and couching threads, ribbons and yarn, students will find working with this technique to be easy and fun" The use of machine decorative stitches and couching techniques will add more excitement to the piece.

 Painted Sheers & Confetti Vest
Students will create a beautiful hand painted sheer fabric using silk paint. They will also create "confetti" using snippets of fabric and then using free motion stitching, secure the layers of fabric. The Angelina fibers will be used for surface embellishment. These very easy techniques are exciting, versatile and far easier than they look.

 Wonderful Textures & Dimensions Vest
Students will explore the many possibilities for creating texture through the use of stitching and fabric manipulation. Using their favorite vest pattern, students make a vest and apply these exciting techniques as embellishment. Fabric crimping, thread fuzzies, bobbin curls, bobbin couching, and Shisha circles will be covered. Visuals to illustrate these techniques will be shown.
